My Thoughts on this beautiful Sabbath Day!

I was setting here this evening, thinking, as my husband is watching the Miami Heat game on TV......What do you do on the Sabbath Day? Some people shop or go out to eat. Others go to sporting events or do yard chores. Me and my family.....we attend Church! You see, as I mentioned before, my family is Latter-Day Saint. Today was one of those Sunday's that I was very grateful that we, as a family do keep the Sabbath Day holy. The Spirit that is felt by keeping the commandments of the Lord is one of the sweetest feelings that one can ever feel in this lifetime. Today, we were blessed to hear from our speakers about Missionary work and the blessings that it can bring into one's life. Not just someone who is already a member of the Church, but to all that we come into contact with. I take great joy in doing Missionary work whenever I possibly can. It may be something as simple as a letter in the mail to a sick Sister in my Branch to make her feel better and to lift her spirits. My husband has recently challenged us as a family to go out with our Sister Missionaries to meet with Investigators to share our Testimonies of the Gospel and how the Gospel has blessed our lives! I am grateful and thankful for his wisdom and counsel everyday of our Eternal Marriage! I know that as I heed the counsel of my husband and of the Lord, my life will be richly blessed! I am ever so grateful to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I am grateful for all that I have, all the Lord has seen fit to bless me with. I am grateful for my husband and my wonderful children and beautiful grand children. I bear my testimony that Jesus is the Christ and that he stands at the head of this wonderful Church, that President Thomas S. Monson is a Prophet of God on this earth today and that I know in my heart that this church is true and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ,
                                                          Amen.

Memorial Day Weekend

This is a special weekend in our country! Take a moment today and remember why we celebrate this weekend. It isn't just about the cookouts and the family gatherings, which, don't get me wrong, ARE ALWAYS GREAT! It is about so much more than that! It is about the men and women who make repeated sacrifices for our safety and our freedoms everyday. It is about their loved ones who must sacrifice with them. It is about their children, who give up their parents as they go off to protect this great country of ours. So, as you are spending time with your families this Holiday Weekend, pause to remember the wonderful men and women of our Armed Forces who aren't able to do that at this time. Remember what they are out there protecting and serving. Remember to say a special prayer for them and for their families, for their safety as well as their safe return! May the Lord bless all our wonderful service men and women. We greatly appreciate all you sacrifice for this great nation and may you come home quickly and safely! GOD BLESS!!

My name is Melissa. I am a 39 Disabled mother of two grown sons. My oldest almost 20 and married for almost a year now. He has two beautiful sons and he and his wife are expecting a baby girl in the Fall. My grandson are ages four and two. My grandchildren are my world. I married to a wonderful man named Allen. We have been married for almost eleven years. We are active members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We were recently sealed for Time and All Eternity in the Columbus Ohio Temple! That was a wonderful day for us! All of my friends and family seem to think I have a knack for writing inspirational thoughts and thought I should give blogging a try! So, here goes! I hope that you will enjoy what you read here!

In light of the events this week, My heart is heavy for our Beloved Prophet, President Monson. As I watching the funeral services for Sister Monson yesterday, I pondered many things. One of which was how truly grateful I am for my Eternal Companion! To hear the loving comments from her children and the people that knew her best and all of the wonderful things that President Monson always said to her touched my heart so deeply. That kind of Eternal Love is so special and priceless! I loved so much, the story that President Eyring told about President and Sister Monson when they had their first date and he met her parents for the first time! That is proof to me that Heavenly Father truly knows each one of us better than we could EVER know ourselves. He knows what we need, he knows WHO we need and he knows just WHEN AND HOW to send them to us! I am so grateful for the Gospel and all that it has brought into my life. I am so grateful for my Eternal Companion and I want him to know that I love him so very much! We are so truly blessed to have the Gospel to keep us strong! I am grateful for every opportunity that the Lord gives me to share the Gospel with those that I love! — feeling blessed.
